Malignant tumors of the stomach can be generally classified as carcinoma and sarcoma. Although sarcomas-are comparatively rare and comprise only about 3 percent of malignant diseases of the stomach, their recognition is important because they are more readily curable than carcinomas.
The two main varieties of gastric sarcomas are lyniphosacroma and leiomyosarcomas, although sarcomas of the stomach may arise from, lymohogenous, muscular, fibrous, fatty, vascular or neural tissue, or combinations thereof.
In addition to reporting 6 cases of noncarcinomatous tumors, we will present a review of the literature available on this subject because it is important to distinguish these sarcomas from carcinomas¢¥ in Korea where carcinoma of the stomach is a frequent disease.
